General Questions

  • What is different about WYB?

Wilson Youth Baseball & Softball is a  community-based organization built around more than just baseball. Our mission is to “Teach integrity, respect, and sportsmanship on the field and in the game of life.”

We want every player to become a better baseball player, a better teammate, and a better member of the community. We emphasize player development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive experience for families at every level.

WYB is affiliated with Cal Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth Baseball, providing our organization with established rules, guidelines, and standards that help us maintain a consistent and accountable program for players, coaches, and families.

At its core, WYB is about developing kids through baseball, on the field and beyond it.

  • How do I register?

Registration for Wilson Youth Baseball & Softball is completed online through TeamSnap ONE. Registration for the spring season typically opens in late November, while fall registration typically opens in late May or early June.

When registration is open, the registration link will be available directly on the WYBS website. Follow the link to TeamSnap ONE to complete your child's registration and provide the required information.

Registration dates and availability may vary from season to season, so check the WYB website for the latest information.

  • What are the age and grade requirements?

Our divisions are based on grade and age requirements. See our Youth Baseball page for the complete division and eligibility information.

  • Can my child play up?

Playing up to a higher division is considered only by exception. Players must first participate in Wilson Youth Baseball's formal evaluation process, which begins in 2nd grade (age 8).

Evaluation results and other relevant factors are used to determine whether a player demonstrates the skills and readiness to play at a higher level. A move-up is not guaranteed and is intended only for exceptional circumstances.

Teams & Season

  • How is my child placed on a team?

For T-Ball and Minors-A, players are generally grouped by school, when possible. Parent requests may also be considered, with final placement at the Commissioner's discretion.

Starting with Minors-AA (2nd grade/age 8), players participate in our winter evaluation process. Evaluations are not tryouts. They provide information that is used in a coaches draft designed to create competitive balance across the league.

Every registered child will be placed on a team and have the opportunity to play baseball.

  • Can I request a specific coach?

For T-Ball and Minors-A, parent requests may be considered when placing players on teams, along with school-based groupings and the Commissioner's discretion. Coach requests are not guaranteed.

Starting with Minors-AA (2nd grade/age 8), players participate in our winter evaluation process and teams are formed through a coaches draft designed to create competitive balance. Because of this process, specific coach requests generally cannot be accommodated at these levels.

Our priority is creating a positive experience and balanced teams for all players.

  • When will team assignments be announced?

For the spring season, we typically announce team assignments by the beginning of March.

For the fall season, we generally aim to announce team assignments by late July.

Exact dates may vary each season based on registration, evaluations, and team formation.

  • When does the WYB season start and end?

For Wilson League Baseball, the spring season typically begins in early April and runs through late May or early June. Fall Baseball typically runs from mid-August through the end of October. Exact dates may vary by division, weather, and the number of teams.

Note: Tournament Team seasons can extend beyond the regular season, with some teams continuing into July.

  • When will I know game and practice schedules?

Once coaches are selected and teams are formed, the Commissioners for each level will work with the coaches to schedule games and practices. Schedule information will be shared with families once the schedules are finalized.

  • How many games will my child play?

Most Wilson League Baseball teams play approximately 8–12 regular-season games, depending on the division. The exact number may vary based on the division, number of teams, weather, and scheduling.

Tournament Teams play significantly more games, with their seasons extending beyond the regular Wilson League season and including additional league and tournament games.

  • Where are games played?

The majority of Wilson League Baseball games are played at the Liberty Complex. Some games may also be played at other school and township fields in the area.

Practices are held at the Liberty Complex, school fields, and township fields, depending on the division and schedule.

Equipment & Opportunities

  • What equipment does my child need?

Players should have a baseball glove and appropriate athletic footwear. WYB provides bats and batting helmets for team use, so families do not need to purchase a bat or helmet to participate. We also provide catcher's equipment for players who catch.

If you choose to purchase your own bat, all non-wood bats must have the official USA Baseball marking and a maximum 2-5/8" barrel. Metal spikes are not permitted.

For complete equipment and bat requirements, visit our Equipment & Bats page.

  • Are there tournament teams?

Yes. Wilson Youth Baseball offers tournament teams for select players beginning at 8U. Players must participate in the winter evaluation process, and teams are selected based on evaluation results and player development needs.

The tournament pathway varies by age. 8U and 9U teams play the Wilson League season before moving on to tournament play, while 10U–12U teams participate in the Berks Diamond League and additional tournaments throughout the season.

  • How can I volunteer?

WYB is a community-based organization powered by volunteers, and there are many ways for parents and community members to get involved. Whether you want to coach, help with a team, or support the league in another way, we appreciate your willingness to help.

Reach out to us if you are intersted in volunteering.
